Researchers discover method for improved effectiveness of antibiotics
5/27/2010Scientists at the University of Calgary have achieved improved antibiotic efficacy to eliminate bacteria and prevent infections such as antibiotic-resistant hospital strains. By combining specific antibiotics with biosurfactants (detergent-like substances produced and secreted by living organisms), the quantity of antibiotic required to combat infections is significantly reduced.
