New, highly absorbent dyes for use in solar cells

2/2/2010

Researchers at the University of Calgary have developed a series of dyes for use in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs).  The new dyes absorb a wider range of solar radiation than conventional dyes.  The absorbance capacity of this class of dyes is modified to include more useful wavelengths of light, to achieve a more efficient conversion of solar light to electrical energy.  Read more.
